Description

Ink on illustration board. Image size 15.5" diameter.

Painted in 1987. Published by Picture Sales in the 1988 calendar “From Wondrous Tales”.

Rodney was able to choose to illustrate his favorite books for this calendar. This painting is from the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel “A Princess of Mars”.

We have loved and enjoyed Rodney Matthews artwork for many years so we were elated when we were able to get one of his works! We are thrilled with this painting in particular because it has his unmistakable style applied to a Burroughs theme. Love all the detail in the characters, buildings and airships, and especially love the Martian pachyderm!
