Description

Former Fiction House artist, Bob Lubbers moved to newspaper comic strips following his work there. One of those was the classic Robin Malone.

"Robin Malone gave Lubbers the perfect canvas on which to showcase his skills in good girl art. Robin was always a stunning fashion plate, and the classic clothing designs in which Lubber draped her hold up surprising well by today’s standards. Robin was always dressed to the nines and never appeared disheveled, even when awakened by frantic phone calls in the middle of the night. The beautiful redhead always looked like she was five minutes away from a photo shoot for Vogue." -David Edwards (Hogan's Alley #19)

This art is great in that features (and lists in the text) the characters Dr. Sam Long (a tribute to his Long Sam strip), Colonel Gora (In an awesome panel) and Ms. Malone.

Lubbers would sketch out some of the art in reverse on the back of the Grafix Duoshade board. Then ink the front and finally add the chemical shading from the special board to complete the work.
