DescriptionWith this piece, I wrap up my theme of classic Avengers members from early teams. So far I have posted four covers and one title splash featuring Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk and Scarlet Witch. In Avengers #16, Hawkeye became an Avenger. Here is a really fun cover from 1989 with Hawkeye and Sandman battling Doc Ock, with an additional nice image of Namor in action. I love how one of Doc Ock's tentacles is bursting into the foreground on the right there, with a bunch of Hawkeye's arrows ineffectually breaking against it. Another tentacle is bursting through Sandman's sandy chest, and another has Hawkeye in its clutches. Then bonus, above Ock's silhouette, you get a big closeup of his maniacally gleeful face as watches the carnage he has wrought. MWAH ha ha ha hahhhh!!! Social/Sharing |

I really enjoyed secondary titles like Solo Avengers. Bought this off the stands, of course, and really like the Doc Ock images as well as the Namor image. Very clean, beautiful lines by the rare wife & husband art team!

I really enjoyed June's work on Power Pack, but never followed her career after that. So nice to see her work on this cover. Nice pick up buddy!

Man, you really pulled the starter cord on the nostalgia machine with this one. Solo Avengers was a very fun side title, in the great vein of Marvel titles like Marvel Two-In-One or Team Up, which I loved. That Colan-esque water line used to delineate the two halves of the cover is a great choice. And has any Marvel characters gotten more heart punches? I think not! Cool cover, Paul. Congrats!

Gorgeous cover! Love the silhouette of Doc Ock causing mayhem while the close-up head shot of the villain admires his own handiwork (Tentacle-work?)

It's cool how some of these title like Solo Avenges or MCP would pack in a lot in terms of characters and giving you a good taste of what you're going to get inside the book. Case in point! Lots of good stuff to look out here but that Namor image stands out to me - really fluid (pun intended!) A nice Hawkeye add to "key" Avengers week. Congrats!
