DescriptionWhat I love about this cover (besides featuring my favorite wall crawler) is that a year after drawing it, Paul Ryan used the same theme of having two legs in the foreground with the reacting heroes in the background. Of course on this cover, the two legs (and what they are attached to) belong to a very sexy Space Pirate Nebula, but in 1991, the two legs belonged to Devos the Devastator, an alien in an armored battle suit. Not so sexy. That 1991 cover belongs to Fantastic Four #359, which I am also very happy to have in my collection. See additional pic for a side by side comparison of the two covers. I think that Paul was having some fun bringing that visual back in a new context (and a new team). I mean, it's also a very effective way of making the villain seem even more menacing. But it gives me a chuckle too. Thanks for looking! Social/Sharing |

The Avengers seem just as intimidated by "Legs" as much as the hormonal teenager reading the issue. This one definitely has wall power. Now shut the door on your way out.

I've always loved this layout, which has been used going back at least to the 1950's on vintage paperback novel covers. So great that you have it as well as the FF cover. Kick ass!

Fantastic Cover, it reminds me of the Bond movie poster "For your eyes only". Huge congrats, Paul!

It's one of those classic artistic framing devices that is very dramatic and used extensively by the likes of Gil Kane in comic covers. Ryan uses it to perfection with so much going on within and outside of the legs.

When you're right, you're right! I'd pick sexy Nebula over ugly alien too! Fantastic cover that has everything you'd want, and then some!

Very cool, and I like how she's shadowed in vs. everyone else! Definitely makes you wanna see what's going on in the comic :) And also reminds me of the All New Savage She-Hulk #2 cover by J Scott Campbell, but swap out Nebula here with She-Hulk. Check it out - very similar :) Congrats on another awesome add, Paul!

When are you going to start posting some good stuff? ;) Another great piece. I've always loved this piece, and it isn't because of Spidey!!! ;)

The only one not staring is Cap, because he's too gentlemanly. And, yeah, he's blocking a massive fire blast, but we all know Cap probably even looks at his feet at the beach. :) And lol at the side by side comparison. A can vs a tin can. Such a cool cover, Paul. Congrats!

One of Paul Ryan's all-time best covers (if not actually the best). Very big congrats on this!
