DescriptionI was lucky to visit Dave at his home studio, a few times. On a visit with Tom Ranheim after the 2001 SDCC, Dave gifted each of us with a few things.. Including, this beautiful (unfolded) color tearsheet of CAPTAIN AMERICA fighting Nazis. Dave has been inking Kirby since 1974, when he was still an emerging Fan artist. But he inked this page from the existing Kirby pencils, for use as the centerfold in 'The KIRBY COLLECTOR #19'; published in April of '98. Homer Reyes assisted Dave, with the coloring. Dave only had a handful of these, so I feel very fortunate to have a signed copy of it. Not exactly Original Art, per se.. But, a treasured keepsake!Social/Sharing |

You met Dave so are already lucky. God, he was such a wonderful artist. Treasure this and the memories.
