Description

18th page.

I had a little fun (like the Cerebus cloak broach in the previous page) with the top panel in this page. Among the throng of Celtic warriors and maidens, one can see Axus the Great, from Barry-Windsor-Smith's "Freebooters" on one side of the hall, and Prince Valiant on the other side -- both lifting their glasses in toast. Apologies to BWS and Hal Foster.

I had only just discovered Hal Foster's "Prince Valiant", around this time, finding an early volume of the Fantagraphics reprints, which, perhaps, accounts for the youthful Val.
