Description

I had a lot of fun coming up with the costumes in this story -- the most intricate being that of King Pellam's unnamed queen, whom I gave an Art Nouveau-ish peacock eye design festooned cloak and headpiece. I also always depicted her goblet in hand -- figuring she had to put up with an overbearing husband and was little more than an ornament, so maybe she drank a bit more than she should.

Another of several homages in the art -- the Lance of Longus was drawn as it was depicted in P. Craig Russell's comics adaptation of the opera Pasifal -- shown here in the last panel of this page and on the next few pages..
