DescriptionIn 1977, Joe Kubert published an over-sized comic magazine named "Sojourn". It contained two to three page stories from some of the industry greats. One of these was Doug Wildey. He contributed his story "Eddie Race, Investigator".Always hoped to add a piece from the creator of Jonny Quest into my art collection. Was very excited when I came across this set of three published pages from Sojourn #2 and two unpublished pages which would have been used in issue #3 had it ever been produced. They were being sold by the Joe Kubert Estate. This is page 7 in the Eddie Race story. It would have followed the ones printed in issue #2 of Sojourn. Probably is my favorite of the group art wise. Was thrilled that he added his iconic Doug Wildey signature to this page! Overall image area of the page is a slightly oversized 11" x 17". Social/Sharing |

I agree that this is my favorite of the group, but they all really shine! Huge congrats!

Wildey is so good. And so underrated.
Completely agree with you Mark. One of the masters of storytelling in sequential art who rarely gets the acclaim he deserves. Do you think it was due to the commercial success of Jonny Quest? That show was innovative and when Doug had control very artistic. But it's noteriety may have lead to Wildey being considered an animator first?

Interesting theory, Lee, although Wildey did do comic book work before Johnny Quest and after. And JQ only lasted one season - sadly. Maybe because he also worked with Toth on animation and with other animation projects on his own? Hard to say.

I've been a fan of Doug Wildey for some time. His work is phenomenal! Very polished layout designs to boot.

Really great page - you don't see much Wildey art outside of Jonny Quest pieces - congrats!
