Erma Jaguar by Alex Varenne

I had first seen the work of Alex Varenne several years ago in Paris at an exhibition and Huberty-Breyne Gallerie. That show was more of an illustration exhibition and I do not recall seeing panel pages there. There were these noir illustration done on vellum with the ink sitting heavy on top of the paper and great use of contrast and lighting. I did like them but at the time had no context for them. I have gone on to admire the work of Alex and although I have never actually seen one of his comics, I have seen many dozens of original art pages and I am happy to be adding this one for 1990 to my collection. There are often adult themes to his work but his style and storytelling compliment the subject matter he is best known for.
