Description

Original concept painting of Jiminy Cricket from Disney's PINNOCHIO, which shows the good hearted cricket emerging from a smoking pipe near the start of the film. Jiminy's expression is in keeping with the scene, which takes place at the very moment the Blue Fairy comes into the house, addresses Geppeto, and brings life to Pinocchio. To his astonishment, the cricket chirps: "As I live and breathe, a Fairy !" Accomplished in Gouache to 9.25 x 6.75" on artist board. Archivally double matted and framed to an overall size of 21 x 18.5". In fine condition. An outstanding art piece from a famous and memorable Disney moment.
Quoting Pierre Lambert: "The backgrounds painted by Claude Coats possess a style that is recognizable in the balance of colors, the use of light, and the impression of depth."
This art appears in black and white in the 1st editions of "WALT DISNEY'S version of PINOCCHIO" published by both Random House and Collins in 1939.
