DescriptionI once visited Claude Coats' home. He was a tall, gracious man who painted my most favorite backgrounds of Geppetto's workshop with all it's toys. For 54 years , the celebrated artist was a background painter, color stylist, and concept artist for nearly every Disney classic film. Later an imagineer extraordinary. This Disney legend inductee along with several of the other great background artists produced paintings for the Little Golden Books between films. Pictured from Lady and the Tramp Big Little Golden Book (1953) is Jim Dear, Darling, Lady, Jock, and Trusty. Rendered in goauche on Whatman water color board. measuring 9.75"x13".Social/Sharing |

Very cool piece of Disney history with the background and a personal tie to make this all the more special.
