DescriptionOkay, judging by how many pages I already have from this series, it's pretty safe to assume I LOVED it. Iron Fist was a character I loved going back to the PMIF days of the early 80's. Except back then, Danny played the straight man to Luke Cage's constant joker. But in this series, Danny was the joker, very much in the vein of Stan Lee's Peter Parker, and I thought it suited him perfectly. The dialogue by Ed Brisson is incredibly good.In this 3rd story arc of the series titled "Sabretooth: Round Two", in a nod to this being the 2nd time the two characters meet while solo without their respective partners, Powerman and The Constrictor, Iron Fist and Sabretooth actually team up so they can help each other with their respective needs. This double page splash doesn't feature Sabretooth, but it is nonetheless quite splendid. The question though: Is this a double page SPREAD that features two scenes featuring Iron Fist and Choshin locked in combat in the foreground, or is this a double page SPLASH featuring 2 large scenes of Iron Fist and Choshin locked in combat with 15 incredibly detailed panels as a background? In this case, I think either one fits appropriately! Social/Sharing |

I'll admit, it was TOUGH! Mainly because I had to track him down and then go through some middleman in Canada!

Four pages of art crammed into two. I like that his strikes are all set up.

Wow, stunning Iron Fist DPS! But, I would tell this Perkins guy to add more detail, if I were you. And, you better be careful about that middleman in Canada. I hear he's not only crafty and cunning but, devious as well. Watch your back!!

Mike does a wonderful job here. Even with everything going on, he didn't skimp on any detail and you can follow along nicely!

There's so much battle on this page, you even got a head-butt. Iron Fist kicks ass, both literally and figuratively, and Perkins captured that perfectly here. He looks awesome, and he's applying foot to butt. I'd agree that you can call it either, too. It has both, imo, which is pretty neat. Super cool score from your guy! Double-sized congrats!

This DPs is so awesome, I don't even think the word "double" does it justice in any context. I think you need to use the word quadruple or octuple in some way. Just amazing action and story telling. And yeah, how in the world did you track down a piece like this by Mike Perkins??? Your detective work is outstanding!

Then don't stop looking, David. Just keep focused on it.... Your eyelids are feeling very heavy now, aren't they? You're getting veeeeeerry sleepy. I will count to ten and when I snap my fingers, you will remember nothing of what transpired before today and you will bequeath you entire comic art collection to me....

Man, this must be a sight on person. Talk about packing as much as you can into 2 boards! Love that you've got the figures fighting above the panels behind them. The panel layout too is a little frenetic, matching what's actually going on. Definitely one of the best Perkins pieces I've seen, and that's saying something. Congrats, Ruben!

Thanks Kahlil, I'm actually very glad you brought up the frenetic panel layouts, because I've had this longstanding thing where as an old school purist, I prefer only square and rectangular panels and I realy dislike when Mike (or any artist) draws irregularly shaped panels. His response was that he only does that for fighting and action scenes, because the action is so frenetic, as you yourself pointed out. So I've always known it's done with absolute purpose, but I'm still on the opposite side of this discussion, as I feel the action itself is already frenetic and you don't therefore need to add to it by shaping the panels that way. So he and I agree to disagree. 😄

No! He would kill you like a small dog. Let your anger be as a monkey in a piñata... hiding amongst the candy... hoping the kids don't break through with a stick.
