DescriptionVery happy to add another Ron Frenz Spider-Girl cover to my gallery!In this issue, May Parker dons a black costume for the first time. In this case, it's not a symbiote, but instead a costume May picks up from the 'Spider Shoppe' (which I find very funny so I attached a pic of that interior), but symbolically, it's May's way of attempting to make a fresh start. Indeed, this issue also marks the beginning of "Team Spider," a tactical strike force put together by the evil Black Tarantula, who May has formed an uneasy alliance with in order to defeat Lady Octopus and Canis. "Team Spider" consists of Tarantula's henchman Chesbro, May's new trainer Elektra (yes, 'the' Elektra) and two brand new characters debuting in this issue, April and June. Get it? May, April and June! So clever ... I bought this one a while back, but wanted to wait until I had a title overlay made for it. The image is striking on its own (see add'l image), but I also like covering up some of the white space with the Spider-Girl logo and the "Landmark 75th issue" pronouncement. Thanks for looking! Very nice black costume Spider-Girl. I dig the pose, and it's really interesting to see how much more stylized Frenz's work was at this time in his career. One day, I WILL get around to reading the entire Spider-Girl saga. I just wish it was all available in trade. Anyway, wonderful piece in a wonderful collection!

Nice choice to leave the background blank in case they want to put out more variants out there. But with the black costume, the white background is very effective on the stands!

Nice, Paul. With her dimensions and the way she is drawn, Spider-Girl has a more insect representation than Peter ever does.

Totally worth the wait for the overlay. I love this spider image, but the trade dress just gives it so much extra pop. Frenz and Sal is the artistic duo we didn't even think of, but is a "duh!" head slapper once it happens. These guys should have been working together much longer. I mean, the Spider Shoppe? Chefs kiss perfect. Spider-Girl is such a fun series, with the perfect tone. Great score, Paul. Congrats!

Alas April and June have only 5 comic appearances each. Guess once Spring ended that was it for them.

Nice! Love the pose and I think having a plain white background was a good call. Makes the figure and all the blacks on the costume really stand out. Also good idea to get an overlay added! STRIKING piece, Paul. Congrats!
