Description

Fabulous painting by illustration royalty, Howard Chandler Christy, whose art hangs in the U.S. Capitol, White House, and Smithsonian. Beyond illustrating books, magazines, and the most famous WW I posters out there, Christy was known for painting nudes and portraits of famous Americans. This is both - “Nelle” was a model for Chesterfield cigarettes and an actress, who tried out for the part of Scarlett in Gone With the Wind. Christy had an impressionistic style that I love, and this painting is a fine example. Art is oil on canvas, and large (34” x 26”).
