X-Men 103 Death Siege!

Wonderful 1st run Dave Cockrum X-Men piece with a lovingly crafted Ororo closeup panel.  This classic storyline at Cassidy Keep is celebrated by fans of the animated series adaptations.   

Wow -- such a great page!  You were smart to hold on to it!

I remember being fascinated by the way they drew the castle in that story.  Nice it have it represented in this great page!

Those images of Storm are spectacular. But the way Dave delineated the sheer speed, force and movement in the 3rd panel is simply exquisite. Perhaps one of the best visual depictions of the infamous "Nothing can stop the Juggernaut!" battle cry! Dave's work was really at its peak when he inked himself, wasn't he? Fantastic page!

Fantastic action early X-Men action page, congrats on picking this one up at the right time.  

Beautiful example from a great run.  Cockrum was probably the best inker on his own pencils.  That last panel of Ororo is simply mesmerizing.  Historical and beautiful!

I have to post this contrarian rebuttal as research shows that Cockrum did not ink himself here.  It was Sam Grainger according to the comic book and to the GCD.  I believe that the only issue where Cockrum inked himself during his run from 94 to 107 was issue 100.  In just those 14 issues, Cockrum had six different inkers (McLeod, Grainger, Chiaramonte, Layton, Green, and himself).  Compare that to Byrne on his run of 36 issues - he had just two by my count (Austin and Villamonte).  While some may dispute what I write here, Grainger was probably the best inker on those early Cockrum X-Men issues.  Regardless, this page features what you wrote - Cockrum's staple personal close up (regardless of the character - this one just happens to be Storm with an emotion fraught situation.

Happy to stand corrected.  Grainger is also amazing on Cockrum.  Regardless who the inker this page looks absolutely amazing !

Really great page - you started off strong for sure!

What we have here is a page showing off the talents of Cockrum in his prime, and Granger's inks really make it pop. Black Tom and Juggernaut really shine in that top-tier sequence, but it is that closeup of Storm that is truly to die for. The way he draws her eyes in that panel makes the image really stand out on what is (if you'll pardon) a standout page. Cheers!
