DescriptionI have had this page a long time. I picked it up for the great shots or Superman and Hawkman. A few years ago, I was admiring Staton's work, when I realized what the villain was doing. As all villains do, he's providing us his backstory- while brushing Hawkman's wing....??I had the good fortune of meeting Joe, and asked if he remembered the story behind that particular peculiararity. He didn't recall, but we did share a good laugh about it. Social/Sharing |

I like the Chiarmonte inks over Staton. The Blue Jay and elephant is sublime and unusually fine. Maybe they just represent Superman for the elephant and Hawkman for the birdie. Maybe I'm reading too much into these pages and am just trying to find a deeper meaning in life?

Once again, interesting observations. I agree the elephant and bluejay are wonderfully rendered.

The art itself remains a testament to the charm and joyful era where Superman team ups were just as exciting to a kid who got two heroes for the price of one.

One of the first comics I ever bought was DC Comics #11, such a fun story especially for a Hakwman fan. :)
