DescriptionI understand that "Teena a Go Go" was Golden Age great Bob Powell's last published work, from 1967. The series, written by Bessie Little, was published in a teen magazine, Teen Life, and also appeared as a newspaper strip from the Bell -McClure syndicate.I have several original pages from the Teen Life version, but none from the Bell-McClure run. From what I can see, Powell took a lot more care with the magazine pages, on which he had a lot more room to draw figures and costumes. The art is unusual for a comic artist in being shaded with conte crayon or litho crayon or something like that. Social/Sharing |

Lovely work from Powell, showing real mastery of his craft. The stances of the figures do so much of the work of conveying the story, while never becoming overtly caricatures. Nice page!

Height of Beatlemania and some Powell good girl art to go along with it. Those are some time period accurate fashions and hairstyles. It's genuine in what was there and then.

yes! I figure for the readers of Teen Life, accurate & appealing costume design was probably a priority.
