Description
Welcome back to another new art Sunday here at Shemp's Gallery. This month the focus is on what I call specialty art. Art that was published but not in comic book form. It could be anything from poster art, card art, style guides, house ads, apparel and everything in between.

This is not something you see everyday, this is the very definition of specialty art. Today, we have a fantastic piece of Superman art by Kerry Gammill. The art was used in 1996 for a Superman necktie by Ralph Marlin. Kerry Gammill had a nice stint on Superman in the 90's and this is such a clean image of Superman on a huge 14X21 board. The image of Clark Kent opening his shirt revealing the Superman emblem is such a classic, I couldn't pass it up, plus the necktie came with the art. It's a really cool looking necktie but I'm not sure I'd wear it. LOL

1996 Superman necktie by Ralph Marlin art by Kerry Gammill and Jeff Albrecht.

You're right, this may be the very first necktie original art ever posted to CAF! I love Gammill's art, and of course it's cool that he's in the classic pose! I'm not a fan of the choice to use Albrecht on inks, however. Cool piece, Shemp!

(I'm with Ruben on the unsuited inks though).

I love it!  Superman was a trendsetter with the mullet.  It only makes sense that as the most iconic character ever that he should be emblazened on power ties to make people know you mean business and show strength in the board room.

Gammill is the definitive Superman artist for me and Superman rocked that hairstyle with a conviction ! Great piece !

It was around this time that Superman and Archangel had a falling out over tipping amounts.
