Patrick, I couldn't agree more. Most artists except BWS seem to think of Conan only as a full-grown individual. Many renderings I've seen of his first adventures: Frost Giant's Daughter, Tower of the Elephant, Rogues in the House even to Queen of the Black Coast, he was probably under 20, but drawn like a 40 year old, Even Frazetta, I think aged him too much (look at the Frost Giants and Fighting Thaug covers.) and that is precisely what appeal to me also about this cover!

Those are all very good points. It makes me realise that when reading the original short stories like you mentioned, in my imagination the Cimmerian was under 20 because he was naive/inexperienced enough to get himself into the predicaments central to those stories. In the Frost Giant's Daughter, a 19-year old wandering off into the snow to follow the vison of a young scantily-clad woman has a very different vibe than a 45-year old chasing after the same thing!! You've given me something to think about and I thank you for it.

Awesome Conan piece from a really underrated great from bygone days. I loved his work on those Weird Western Hex stories back in the day.
