DescriptionThis is an Original mixed media Dr. Strange pin-up piece, featuring one of the most popular Marvel Comics characters in a full-figure straight-on stunning image that fills up most of the art paper (his cape basically goes from edge to edge)! The artwork is outstanding and powerful, with masterful shading and stunning detail, and rendered on a piece of art paper measuring approximately 8 1/2" by 11" (it looks like it was done on the reverse side of a piece of bristol board that was cut in half). Please note that there is a slight waviness towards the bottom of the board, and a bit of handling wear at the bottom. It is not really damaged, it just does not lay perfectly flat. It is possible this is because of the technique that was used, which appears to be something resembling inkwash, which is gorgeous. There are also spots of whiteout used for effect around Stephen's hands. Taken together with the deep black inks for his legs and torso and set against the greyish wash background of his cape, the piece is stunning. Mark Morales is well-known for a classic run on Thor together with Olivier Coipel, and has worked on many additional titles and characters including Amazing Spiderman, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Batman, and more. This is one of the best pieces I have seen him do, with an outstanding take on the Master Of The Mystic Arts.Social/Sharing |
