Description
Original Art Page to Strange Tales #165, published by Marvel Comics in 1968, featuring an absolutely amazing 1/2 splash of Doctor Strange the Sorcerer Supreme engaging in all-out battle fighting action! This is Pg. 9 from the classic story where the Master Of The Mystic Arts must fight the evil villain Yandroth, Scientist Supreme. While this may go without saying, finding classic splashy images from the prime period of Marvel's Silver Age in the 1960's is incredibly difficult. Not only is this basically a half-splash (with a smaller inset panel of Yandroth pointing his Q-Ray blaster at the Doc), but it is an unbelievably rare example of Dr. Strange engaging in hand-to-hand combat! Anyone who has read Dr. Strange knows that as someone who uses magic, he generally fights battles using his spells, or his many magical items such as the Eye of Agamotto or Cloak of Levitation. But here in a classic battle of Science VS Sorcery, Stephen Strange bursts head-first right at Yandroth! The page is on art paper measuring approximately 10 3/4" by 16 1/4". There is some whiteout used throughout the page, and it has been hole-punched at the top and bottom left and right corners. You should also be able to see in the scan that there is a piece of paper missing from the bottom left corner (margin area, not affecting any artwork). This is a classic example, and vintage pages from this era are highly sought-after. To get a piece of this quality is difficult, as they rarely appear on the open market, and with 60's SA Marvel being so heavily collected, once pieces go into collections they do not come out again. This is an exceptional and unbelievably rare piece of artwork, that would look fantastic framed and prominently displayed, and would be a true key piece in any collection.
