DescriptionI'm posting this lovely sketch the week the live action Y The Last Man series debuts on FX. A show I've eagerly awaited its multiple starts and Fitz's over the years. I guess I would be perfectly okay if it was never adapted because it was one of the most perfect stories told in its original form.I got this sketch at an event that was one of my favorite events in my years as a fan. Golden Apple Comics (RIP, formerly in Hollywood, CA) held a bash on the day the final issue of Y The Last Man was published. My best friend was so excited for it, he literally camped out on the street overnight in front of the store. I was able to hang with him pretty late the night before, and felt bad for leaving him there by himself; but I didnt hold the line til sunrise with him. In the end we both got wristbands for the party. It was both a warm and electric affair, with Brian K Vaughn and Pia Guerra in attendance to do a Q/A and casually mingle with fans late into the evening. It was wonderful to hear them both speak to the whole journey of both working together as well as how they were able to tell their complete story. In an age where most comics never really end it was satisfying to see these creators get where they wanted on their own terms. Near the end of the evening I got to chatting with Pia and asked if she'd mind doing a fast doodle for me, and she whipped up this beautiful Yorick Brown. A great memento from an awesome night and epic journey with these characters. Social/Sharing |

Still would have regretted nothing. And there was only a nominal chance that could have happened. The conversations we had with the people on Sunset Blvd at that time where...interesting.
