A mysterious new player enters the Marvel Universe and the X-Men are in his crosshairs! What is his mission and how can the man known as Cable hope to stop him? Writer/artist Rob Liefeld introduces a new wrinkle in the saga of Marvel's Mightiest Mutants! The Mystery of MAJOR X continues in issue #2 as he forges a union with Cable - and races against time to save mutantkind from certain devastation! Previously we saw how the Major X and M’Coy in an attempt to obtain the help of the X-Men (specifically the X-Force) made an unexpected trip to the past from the almost destroyed X-Istence, after a slight exchange of ideas where the X-Force did not take the best part, Major X finally unveils who is the mysterious character under the helmet, and is no more than who (surprise !!!) Alexander Summers son of Nathan Summers aka Cable, in this new issue we will see the origins of the X-Istence and more details about its creator: Rob Liefeld, excuse me, the X-Ential. Finally the Mutants managed to find the long-awaited peace, they are no longer proscribed, persecuted, discriminated or hated, finally the Homo Superior has achieved a place to call home, but it was not easy, in a desperate attempt to escape from the claws of “The Catalyst” The X-Ential managed to open a portal to another time/dimension plane where Mutants and Atlanteans manage to escape, little by little the mutants and atlanteans were building the foundations of their utopic society. However over time the differences between the Mutants and the Atlanteans began to emerge, Atlanteans could be a little bit stubborn sometimes (remember where comes Namor?) a difficult situation to control for The X-Ential, from then things would be complicated until the final collapse of the X-Istence, now Major X and M’Coy are at the Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, they managed to escape through a rift, but to complete their mission they need to travel in time many years in the future, and nobody better than the old grumpy uncle Cable for this. Sweet slice of an underrated book. I missed it myself but feel like Liefeld conducted something way fun. Congrats!
