DescriptionSteve Ditko, Marvel Super-Heroes Spring Special (1991) page 9- I love, love, love the Amazing Spider-man. It only makes sense that I would love Speedball! They're essentially the same quirky, witty and coming-of-age character except Robbie has parents and a cat. I've been searching for a Ditko Speedball page for a very long time. The only ones I'm aware of are ridiculously priced or only had Speedball's leg in one panel. Fast forward to this past week where Romitaman Mike Burkey popped this beauty up in to the Dueling Dealers of Comic Art ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAK_Tpv0Sjs ). I was literally eating my dinner and practically spit out my food while fumbling to get my cursor over to the dialog box so I could claim it. Burkey has helped me to check another bucket art item off my list. Social/Sharing |

It's has that wonderful Ditko magnetism of the youthful outcast hero we could all relate to.

Well said! I never thought of it that way but that does resonate with me.

Congrats on a great pickup! I'm also a fan of Ditko's Speedball and in fact, the first art I ever bought was the page 1 splash to issue #1. These pages don't seem to show up too often!

That's awesome, man! With this stuff it's hard to top unexpected big checks off the list! Even though we may have to write some big checks to acquire ;) Great action of a fave character by one of the classic creators! Congrats!

I really like it because it's one of the few "Later" Ditko pages that has a pure Sturdy Steve feel
