Description

This Freedom Fighters series didn’t hit my radar when it was released, but shortly after I stumbled upon some of the absolutely stunning art from the still criminally underrated duo of Eddy Barrows & Eber Ferreira. The premise was simple, set on Earth X where the Nazi’s won and have taken control of America. After taking out the original team of Freedom Fighters, America was broken. Over time, a new team of heroes emerged and slowly built a resistance that led to the return of Uncle Sam. I absolutely loved the portrayal & characterization of Uncle Sam in this series, an Uncle Sam that represents & fights for all Americans as they take back their country from Nazi control. It also helps that he’s drawn the best I’ve ever seen him drawn in this series.

This scene depicts his return to the fight and easily takes out a bunch of Nazi troops in Philadelphia, a very appropriate setting for his return.

While I am always impressed by the pairing of Eddy & Eber, I still feel that this series features some of their best work. It helps that the series features characters that aren’t featured often so no preconceived notions really come into play, just a pure & simple enjoyment of all of the beautifully rendered characters.

I picked this piece up at Baltimore Comic-Con 2021 in a trade. Couldn’t be happier with the outcome of said trade.

A double pager that would inspire the resistance to fight on! The Eddy and Eber team lights the pages up with photo realism combining rich shadows and motion blur for the action taking place.

I am a big fan of Barrows and Ferreira on Freedom Fighters as well. This DPS is just stunning. Congrats.
