Description

Jiminy Cricket imparts advice to Pinocchio in this wonderfully hand colored rendition done by Disney's background artist Ron Dias (1937-2013).Ron was a great talent and a good friend that is definitely missed. Mr. Dias' career in animation began in 1956 when he joined the Disney Studios as a in-betweener and clean-up artist on Sleeping Beauty. He eventually became an animator, art director, background painter and color stylist. His background paintings can be seen in all of the major studios during the animation industry's silver age, including Hanna-Barbera's Hey There, It's Yogi Bear, Jonny Quest, The Man Called Flintstone, DePatie-Freleng's The Pink Panther, Warner Brothers' Return of Duck Dodgers in the 24 � Century, Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings and the gorgeous backgrounds in Disney's Winnie the Pooh. He also worked as a color stylist on The Secret of NIMH, Dragon's Lair and Space Ace for Don Bluth, and the Toon Town sequence in Who Framed Roger Rabbit for Disney and Amblin. In addition he illustrated Little Golden Books, was art director on The Little Mermaid TV series and was in charge of the Disney art sales program. - this piece is signed.
