Description1947-2022, 75 years anniversaryScrooge McDuck, a Scottish-American anthropomorphic Pekin duck created by Carl Barks for the Disney comic books, first appeared in the story "Christmas on Bear Mountain", published in December of 1947 (Four Color #178). Living in Duckburg, Calisota, in his own "Money Bin" placed on Killmule hill, he's Donald Duck's maternal uncle, as well as Huey's, Dewey's, and Louie's grand-uncle. The richest duck in the world, he was initially characterized as a greedy miser and antihero, but in later appearances he has often been portrayed as a thrifty hero, adventurer and explorer. He's, without a doubt, my favourite Disney character. My ideal Scrooge McDuck story would be written by Carl Barks and illustrated by one of the Italian Disney artists I love! *** Here's the cover to Zio Paperone #43, amazingly illustrated by Andrea Freccero. Scrooge's classic money-diving, probably inspired by Barks' oil-painting that you can see in the additional images (just check all the elements in common). Please check the cover prelim here. Also in the additional images, the published cover digitally colored. Huge thanks to Giacomo and Andrea! Paper size: 25 x 35 cm Social/Sharing |

Bella copertina. Barks utlizzava spesso questa immagine iconica, sia in alcuni dipinti che nei fumetti, è anche molto simile al mio preliminare di Barks che ho in galleria.

Great tribute to that Barks' classic, the blowing off hat gives even more dynamism to this iconic image!

my assumption is that Scrooge here just got back to his money bin (maybe from a business trip, or an adventure) and was so eager to dive into his money that he didn't even spend a moment to take his hat off ^_^
