Description

Joe Kubert took over the Winnie Winkle strip for about a year in 1981-1982 with the idea of having Kubert School students gain real world experience from assisting. Kubert ended up doing much of the work himself, which is why these have his distinctive style. The signature JKS stands for Joe Kubert School and Henry Raduta was the writer. The Comics Journal #172 has an interview with Joe Kubert that discusses the strip in detail.

This is a full week of daily strips (6 strips from Monday to Saturday) from April 6-11, 1981. The Sunday strips had a different continuity. In this storyline, Consuelo shows up claiming to be the daughter of Winnie's husband, Bill Wright. Bill had been missing for years and suffered amnesia, so he wasn't sure whether might be the father or not. SPOILER ALERT: Consuela turned out not to be his daughter, but there was a reasonable explanation why she thought she might be.

I bought these strips directly from Joe Kubert's estate via a local auction house.
