The Stan Lee autograph on the artwork is an aesthetic blemish for 2 reasons… his autograph to me is irrelevant (sure, he created the character, Jean Grey/Marvel Girl, but had nothing to do with this modern comic)… but I wished the infamous guy who got everything he had signed by Stan Lee would have used a pencil for the signature, more elegant and also able to be erased.
I got this from the recent ComicLink auction despite my reluctance due to the autograph, but it’s far enough away from the art that it’s not as bothersome as other pieces signed by Stan Lee that I’ve seen. The shaky signature actually kind of makes me sad for Stan Lee and reminds me of how he was treated towards the end of his life too.
