Description

15" x 10" image area. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Avengers #231 Page 11 original art (Marvel, 1983). Al Milgrom and Joe Sinnott.

As a purist who appreciates good narrative art over memorable scenes, issues, or story lines, I was so drawn to this page for the unfolding of this powerful moment with such a fantastic descriptive. Evil was just about to prevail, unaware of what was soon to transpire and then POW!!!!!! Thor unleashes HELL! He summons a violent storm and enters on top of the Quinjet! The base is destroyed, the enemy is annihilated, and that hammer is a swingin'. The first long panel is truly the gem for an great opener! Of course, execution of such a stellar page by two master artists goes without saying.

Oh I'm so jelly!!!!! Milgrom and Sinnott Avengers with Thor portrayed in all his greatness. Such a powerful page

Milgrom was an underrated master at battle layout, imo. This scene is crackling with energy, and it ain't just because of Mjolnir. I mean, that last panel is perfect. And the inking is meaty and stellar, as Sinnott does. What a great Avengers page. Big congrats!
