The collage layering gives it the broken patched back together look perhaps in reference to the efforts to reconstruct the film, the mystery of who killed Balfour, or representing the broken psyche caused by the hypnotism of the man in the beaver hat. However it is interpreted, this painting has the McKean unique style that has a haunting and lasting effect.
