Description

Many years ago I was at a swap meet and stumbled upon the 3 volume set of the Famous Artists School. These books were designed for aspiring artists to learn through correspondence (mail) with artist instructors that would critique the work that the books required them to do.

This set of volumes had belonged to a woman that actually sent her work in to the company, as much of the books had been 'used'. The books also had multiples of her drawings along with the correspondence from the instructors.

Most notably was the correspondence from Rudolph Belarski (he of pulp magazine and paperbook cover fame)...certainly my favorite Popular Library cover artist.

It's the only pencil work from his time working for Famous Artists School that I have ever seen. Since I am not fortunate to own a Belarski painting or any other original, I was pretty happy to find this in a forgotten volume from a forgotten time (Belarski letter included from 1966).
