DescriptionMatt Baker, Jack Kamen, and Jay Disbrow (all attributed) Fight Comics #54 "Tiger Girl" Story Page 10 Original Art (Fiction House Publ., 1948). Tiger Girl leads a search for "the hangout of the most brutal killer ever to curse the Congo!" The voluptuous heroine was Fiction House's jungle-hero follow-up to its signature franchise, Sheena, Queen of the Jungle. The collaborative piece is formally undocumented as to artist credentials, but the style of Good Girl Art master Baker is self-evident in the border-busting curves of Tiger Girl; Kamen, in the square-jawed masculine presences; and then-newcomer Disbrow, in the studiously rounded line-weight of the inking. Studio boss S.M. Iger (art director at Fiction House) treated his unbilled artists as interchangeable components of an assembly-line process; the inevitable combinations of style often achieved an unforeseen quality of distinction.Social/Sharing |
