Bob Powell "Slewfoot Jones" daily - tryout? - c. 1947

This seems to be a sample strip that Powell drew but which didn't get picked up for syndication. There are a couple other examples of it around. "Slewfoot Jones" was a hillbilly/baseball character who appeared in some Golden Age sports comic books around 1947, so I would guess the attempt at syndication was around the same time.

I especially like the middle two panels here... the shapes and negative space are great, and nice inking on the old man's face.
