The Amateur Alchemist by Virgil Finlay

Virgil Finlay (1944-1971) was a prolific illustrator in the age of SF pulps.

I first discovered Finlay art in the paperback edition of Gerry De La Ree's Book of Virgil Finlay. This was a reprint of the limited hardcover edition.
To say I was enthralled would be an understatement. So I tracked down the hardcover edition and also discovered that there five more books in the series which I eventually tracked down and acquired.
