Nice storytelling, Ryan, with some definite emotional beats. Really like how the choice was made to have an all black background for those last 3 panels. Subtle, but effective stuff. Congrats!
I'm not sure I noticed the use of the black background like that until reading your comment, K. But I do love especially how it seems to envelope the characters until I get the feeling in the last panel it won't quite be able to consume the two figures as they hug one another. And then theres some hope. Or at least that's how I'd like to see it.
Thanks for your comment!
Bagley's artwork strikes like lightning at the heartstrings!
Really great character beats here, Ryan (with that ever-Important Bagley "glower" in panel four! :) ), and K Gearon is spot on (as usual) in pointing out the great effect of the solid black background in the last few panels. Nice flow to the page that covers a lot of emotional ground (as you yourself mention), with some lovely shots of Songbird. Great add, Ryan - congrats!
The romance between Songbird and Abner was so tenderly rendered. Anyone who has ever been in a relationship can relate to those final four panels. Bagley shows here that he is a master not only of action, but of the small scenes that really stand out/
I totally agree with your assessment of Bagley's skills. That's how you know a comic artist is a master in my opinion.

Thank you for reminding me why "Thunderbolts" is my all-time favorite Bagley title.
It's such a great book.

Gorgeous page from Mark Bagley. Love the worried look of Songbird as she peers out from behind the panels showing the storyline. Beautiful use of blacks to make the scenes pop! Great pick-up!
