DescriptionHere's a vintage caveman sketch by RGK with really nice movement and textures, IMO. I really love the face and pose. The lines in the figure and in the foliage are reminiscent of Frazetta from this period, at least to my eye. This is clearly a fragment from a large sheet of sketches, as the artist was known to produce. I appreciate Krenkel more and more as time goes on.I don't know if this was published anywhere, or exactly when it was drawn, so thanks in advance for any info on that if you happen to know. On a more serious note, a signed Dueling Dealers trading card was generously included as a gimmee with my purchase, but I'm not sure who's John Hancock this is...any intel on this would also be appreciated! Thanks to Anthony Snyder for a smooth transaction! Thanks for taking a look! Social/Sharing |

These Krenkel pieces are really expressive doodles that show what inspired him in his mind and needed to be put down on paper.
That is Anthony's autograph on the card with some letters on top of it.

¡El trazo suelto y vigoroso es de una fuerza magnífica!

Anthony has a great selection of very affordable and solid Krenkel examples. This figure rough is an excellent choice. Even as a rough, the anatomy and pose exhibit masterful figure work. The prominent brow ridge, wide nose, and portruding mouth, completes the accuracy in Krenkel's depiction of early man. Truly stunning.

Ah! That KC KC threw me off, but yes, I've heard him say that on Dueling Dealers enough times now. Thx for the clarification!

The really talented artists always amaze me with their lines. To get such a lovely image from these squiggles and scrawls trying to find those final lines is so cool to see. I've really been growing to appreciate Krenkel, too, and his wonderful style. Great catch. Congrats!

Some might see a bunch of squiggles. I see well placed squiggles implying light, shadow, features, tone, and dynamic energy. Lovely addition.

I've been tempted by a few of these and this is a really great one! Really subtle expression and body language to match the beautiful line quality. Nice pick up!

Fabulous! Love Krenkel's sketch here. I like seeing artists' roughs and prelims. They give you a sense of how they think and how they approach a subject.

No "qualifiers" need to be mentioned. I mean, this is just a beautifully drawn figure, full stop, with nice movement and textures as you've already noted.
