DescriptionBadass Punisher DPS by Bernie Wrightson. Punisher blasts the Angel Gadriel in this memorable DPS from the story. Those bottles at the bar may be a far cry from the flasks and beakers in Wrightson's Frankenstein plates, but they are still Wrightson bottles!More than one of my friends has told me this 4 part series is the "worst" Punisher story in their opinion. 😂 Although I admit the story is terrible, it still has art by the legendary Bernie Wrightson and I love it for that reason. The original art is much better than the published version. "Purgatory part 2: The Mark of Cain" October 1998 Update: I’ve had a couple people reach out and tell me the correct spelling of the angel is “Gabriel.” Well, the angel in the Bible is indeed “Gabriel,” but the angel in this terrible story is indeed “Gadriel.” Social/Sharing |

Wrightson bottles! Sometimes the art overshadows the story and I don't mind that at all. Great DPS.

You know the Angel Gabriel hasn't spent a lot of time on earth if he doesn't realize that bars are Punisher's home turf.
This is a crzy dps--Bernie knew how to work that widescreen.

Marvel missed a trick by not having Frankencastle come first and getting Bernie to run wild on it. Regardless of how much distaste I had for the story, getting Bernie to do art on this was a coup. And the B&W OA looks fantastic once bereft of the garish coloring. Congrats man!

Wrightson strikes again! What an amazing Punisher DPS! The top panel kicks ass, and the bottom splash tells you whose ass got kicked! Stunner!

Can't beat Wrightson on Punisher right, Daryl? Even in an...offbeat story like this :) It's a great piece, no doubt. Love the 2 large hortizonal panels, streching across 2 boards. The shooter followed by the shot. And thanks for adding some close ups - great stuff. Big congrats!
