Description

I love Gluyas Williams' early work, but it rarely shows up for sale anymore. This wonderful Suburban Heights panel is from February 10, 1925, just three years after the feature began. Subtitled "How to Read a Thermometer, the strip features a husband and wife debating about the actual temperature in the house, and how to read the dang thermometer. The husband winds up stoking the furnace at the end.

Lovely fine line drawing that no scan can ever do justice to.

Great presentation with a square nine panel of cartooning. You identify with and live that same frustration.
