Planet of the Apes #94 Man-Thing Splash Page 1 (UK)

My first exposure to comic books was Marvel in the UK in the 70's. They were reprints of the US comics with mix and match stories that were serialized. So, for example, Planet of the Apes was cover titled with Dracula Lives. The comic would then contain a PoA story, Ka-Zar, Man-Thing, and a Dracula story ... or maybe a reprint of a pre-hero monster story. All for 9p! The best thing is that they were about 1/3rd larger than US comic books and in B&W, so the pen and ink was a lot sharper.

This is from a Man-Thing series from the incomparable Mike Ploog that I loved! Now, there is a wrinkle. Since the British broke up the stories differently that they were published in the US, pages were added to help the continuity of the story (I just found this out in the last year!). This title page, although titled as Ploog and Chiaramonte is actually attributed to a young Marshall Rogers and Mike Esposito ... not a shabby combination either!!! I am excited to have it!
