Description

Atmospheric painting of Judge Dredd's evil brother Rico and his ABC Warrior bodyguard (based on Hammerstein) by genius Video-maker/artist Chris Cunningham or Chris Halls as he was known back then...

Mixed media image painted over a blown up photo copy on card, cut out, placed on black photo paper.

This piece was created for the ill-fated movie starring Sylvester Stallone (the two parts Chris Halls was involved with, the ABC Warrior and Mean Machine are regarded as the best parts of the movie).

When you see the quality of this work, you can't help but wonder what a loss to the comic and illustration world Chris was by failing to pursue a career in this medium..he did however go on to be a legend in the pop video and advertising fields and I'd still love to finally see a movie by him...imagine how great that would be??

Shame, he did not produced much more paintings. I Love this "like Bisley" style and how he put together stylization with real materials/textures. NIce example !

Would have loved to see more comic artwork by him. The movie was ultra crap though and I am a Dredd fan. The other Dredd movie sucked too. The Judge Minty fan movie was more entertaining than both of them combined.
