DescriptionJan Duursema worked on several Incredible Hulk issues in between the Dale Keown and Gary Frank runs. I loved Peter David's writing during this period and I do think Duursema did an effective job with the storytelling, even if it's not as conventionally "pretty" as the issues preceding and following. I was happy to pickup this page as it's got some nice panels of the smart Hulk leading the Pantheon. The art also really benefits from Mark Farmer's clean inks.Just a note that the GCD (comics.org) has the inker incorrectly listed as Tom Wegrzyn. Mark Farmer is actually the correct inker as credited in the comic. This mistake was due to a letters page correction in Hulk #455, however that also had a mistake and listed issues #401-403 when it should have been #451-453. I confirmed this with Tom Wegrzyn himself. I haven't had much luck recently with trying to update GCD. If you want to give it a try, let me know and I'd be happy to provide all of the relevant details. Social/Sharing |

Hmmm, I wonder what might've inspired you to post a Duursema Hulk page, Ted. I have to say, I don't know if anyone else notices it, but I'm drawn to the final panel because it looks like Jan's Husband, Tom Mandrake either penciled or inked it. Interesting....

Ha -- this was a recent pickup and I was actually planning to post it before your Hulk show, but definitely relevant. Agreed that the panel looks like Mandrake's work, but I think it's probably just Mark Farmer having somewhat of a similar inking style.
