Description

Publicity drawings by Manuel Gonzales (worked in Disney's publicity department from 1936 to 1938) are consistently first-rate. But many, such as this example, are among the best images ever drawn at the Disney Studio. It is just absurd that Gonzales' work is almost always attributed to the wrong publicity artist, either Tom Wood (who typical drew in black pencil, without any colored underdrawing) or Hank Porter (who used both blue and red pencil for underdrawing but whose work is usually signed with his monogram and who often had very loose or very heavy underdrawing). Even worse, Gonzles has rarely even been mentioned as one of the three fabulous artists who produced the incredible Disney Studio publicity art during the 1930s.
