Description
It seems that now is an apt time to post She-Hulk art due to the cross-media buzz she is benefiting from (like it or not, the show I mean ^^).

Like many, I fell in love of Byrne's rendition of the character and Kerry Gammill being so close stylistically to Byrne, this little story lost in Marvel Fanfare 48, likely an inventory one, was a true gem for this Gammill fan.

A nice fight scene that showcases Gammill's incredible sense of staging, body language and exceptional figure work.

That first panel for one is such an interesting angle to stage the opening of the fight scene with Jen's hypertrophied opponent punching her. His over-the-top anatomy is really well drawn and her flying off the ground is excellent. Her body position looks so realistic to me here.

The second panel is by far my fav'. She really looks stunned by the blow and Gammill managed to make her look sexy despite her disadvantageous position without being raunchy. Her face is fantastic, the placement of her hand on her head and again her whole body position is perfect, lying in the rubble.

The third panel is also super interesting and original. By placing She Hulk so far away from the reader's eye and her opponent being punched away to the reader, Gammill created a strong dynamic image, especially going off border on top and at the bottom of the panel to expertly lead the way to and from the center of the page.

As Jen is squatting to the ground to check on the bad guy in the fourth panel, her anatomy and body language are spot on. Gammill is already staging the rest of the page by having his hand gearing towards her ankle.

The fifth panel again plays with the back and foreground effect to the reader's eye with a great angle to picture a full scene without taking too much space on the page. Her face looks fantastic. She is not in pain but distressed as this is not a pleasant situation.

And the cliffhanger last panel (or shouldn't that be, cliff smasher) shows us, yet again, a great use of body positioning with She-Hulk instinctly covering her face while bracing for impact.

That is what great storytelling is all about, guys. Various angles and shots, tons of details for the attentive eye that lead one panel to the next effortlessly and with fluidity.

I will state that while Gammill often uses the Byrne method of 5 to 6 panel grid (which he truly perfected during his FF run), Gammill's pages always seemed more packed (with info?) than Byrne's, whose art tends to breath a bit more within the same amount of panels. I'm not saying one is better than the other, just different approaches (even though Byrne has stated on his forum that Gammill is a better draughtsman than he is).

The sound effects are also quite fun and expertly placed to both lead the reader's eye and be graphic part of the page. Also, thought bubbles, how I miss those!

Both Rubinstein and Marzan are listed as inkers to this issue but they really look like Rubinstein inks to me.

She looks so glamazon in battle!  Even in the heat of battle, her tussled look has a wonderful glow of attractiveness.

Gammill is such an under-rated artist and story teller. Great looking action page you have here which highlights so many of his skills as you mentioned in your write-up. Congrats!

Great Gammill page, FM, posted at a perfect moment, as Jen's star is starting to rise for a (world-)wider audience...!  (Would that make this... Timely Comics?)  Panel 4 is my favorite (the smooth linework here actually makes me think of Tom Grummett's work), but details and solid staging are obvious and present everywhere on this page.  The dialogue, word balloons, and sound effects really add something special to the viewing experience of the whole piece (as they should, obviously, but it's really fun to see here!).  Congrats, FM!  Great post!

Outstanding action scene storytelling here.  Every panel's got something to see and when taken as a whole?  Sublime stuff.  Congrats!
