DescriptionDarryl Banks did such a fantastic job bringing in Kyle Rayner as the Green Lantern. I am always excited to find pages of his "earlier" GL work and that is what this page has. Kyle is still somewhat new to the JLA team and they are facing off against Dr. Polaris who is typically a Green Lantern foe. So Kyle wants to approach him one way and Batman feels that a different approach would be better. So the team follow's Kyles lead (really? Like they haven't figured out Batman ALWAYS has a better strategy).Each of the three art panels has something I love. 1) Kyle's ring can make him fly...but instead he makes a snowmobile. The rest of the team is flying or running faster than the speed of sound, but here comes the idea man on a noisy snowmobile?!?! Shouldn't THAT have been a clue to the team that his strategy might have some flaws? 2) I love the Superman/Batman imagery here but the best part of this panel is Plastic Man's diaglog. "EDDY BUDDY GUDDA PLANKET?". So funny and at the same time it makes sense is the temps are so cold that he'd be hardened. Perfect 3) Penguins. In fact, penguins saying "AWK". Isn't that awesome? Banks shows he could handle the rest of the JLA characters as well in this page getting in the right Batman and Superman look. Rayner was really fun as he was made to win over fans after what they did to Hal.
