DescriptionI say boom boom boom, let me hear ya say ERANGAI say boom boom boom, now everybody say ERANGA Get a load of this one CAFsters! My initial request for this commission was Spider-Man vs. villain, sometimes I pick the villain, but this time it was Artist's Choice. This is a theme I like to revisit every now and then, and have had some stunning results. Well, this is officially one of them. I had no idea which villain Eranga was going to select, and I even went as far as to defer looking at the scan until I had the piece in hand. So it truly was a great unboxing to find those tentacles coming right at my big head. Eranga without question, has successfully captured the essence of Doctor Octopus. This is the mad scientist in his lab, and I don't know how you do it any better! The character design is true and the tentacles are in action. Just check out that shadow work!! The detail that went into the lab itself is spectacular. It really adds to the overall impression of the piece. In regards to perspective, it alone is enough to trigger the Spidey senses. Doc's tentacles have clearly been effective in knocking Spider-Man's webbing loose mid-air, and this has created havoc. This is evident in Spidey's pose, as well as the webbing. Such a nice touch to have that taut strand on the left, and then chaos on the right. Those web strands help lead to an original character pose. As a caveat for the commission, I asked for webbing. Safe to say that Eranga used it properly, but I also like his choice for the style of webbing. We had a conversation about this, which eventually led to me making a terrible comment about a spaghetti monster commission, so I think I already know what I want for next time. I consider Eranga to be a good friend, but I am also a sincere fan of his art. I have thanked him many times this week, but I will say it again. Thank you Eranga! I could not be happier with the finished piece! This beautiful wall crawler is going just there. Social/Sharing |

Want to find one myself, all too good
There's no denying when I look Otto lines
Girl, I'm all for web head, over moon
And I lived so long believing tentacles bind
But every ink of brush fluid is webbing me this time
It's Eranga, this time I know
And there's no doubt in my mind
For Tyler, until I get one too
Girl, I'll be loving this Eranga

Eranga keeps getting batter and better! LOVE the angled perspective, and depth! AND sense of movement! Eranga definitely showing out! Congrats!
