Cockrum UNCANNY X-MEN #95 p16 (1975) Full-Team, Noble Death of Thunderbird!

Wow, a full team page from a legendary issue! And Wolverine is in two panels, which is really impressive considering what a minor part of the team he was at this point.

Wow Dino, this page was worth waiting 20+ years for! As good as any Cockrum X-men page I've seen. Congrats on adding it to your collection.  I'm very happy for you!

When you think about how big this book and these characters have become, it would be easy enough to heap most of the praise on Byrne & Austin.  The X-Men would never have become the juggernaut franchise it is without Dave Cockrum.  All you have to do is go back and read just those first ten Cockrum books, stop there, and really think about what you've just experienced.  Without Giant Size #1 and #94-107, there is no #108-143.  This page is a glorious example from Dave's all too short run.  Just three issues in and you already have one of the biggest moments in X-Men lore.  How amazing is it that you have the first page of Thunderbird's death sequence!  I can't even imagine how thrilled you must be.  I am as happy for you as I am envious.  Congratulations and enjoy basking in its artistic and historical glory!

Big Congrats!  Before the death of Phoenix, this was the key X-Men shocker moment. I also really love the dynamic Cockrum/Grainer art, especially the great middle panel of the team in action!

This is sick!  Cyclops marks another notch of death under his belt of leadership!  Legandary page by Cockrum that showed this new team wasn't going to be like others and had high stakes to keep readers coming back for more!

congrats Dino. Always loved the charater of thunderbird. and I thought this was a cop out that they killed him in this issue. they didn't want two wolverine like charaters on the same team? weak writing, thunderbird could have been fleshed out and explored his culture but they took a quick out. wasted potential. still a wery powerful page for us thunderbird fans. a feather in your collection and I can't think of anyonemore deserving  to have it in their collection.

Outstanding! This is where the All-New X-Men really took off with a blast! They were All-Different, for sure, and Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum made sure we all noticed! Fantastic page!

A classic, "moment before death" page! It's funny how the death of a character who had only been around in a sum total of 2 other comic book issues previous to this one, ended up impacting so many fans. It goes to show that HOW the death is portrayed is even more important than the popularity of the characters themselves. Making the great and noble sacrifice? THAT'S the way to go out!

What a scene! I'd heard stories and seen flashback panels, but I could never afford this comic until it got reprinted in Classic X-Men.

Congrats Dino! I just re-read the original run and this page really is a banger, with some very memorable story elements. John Proudstar is indeed thru taking orders. 

This was pinnacle Cockrum for me, killing off what we thought could be a main charactor so early on the run set the tone for the Dark Phoenix saga to follow. Great page for the wall.

Fabulous Dave Cockrum Uncanny X-Men page! Well worth waiting for! What a fantastic page with the whole team included. Love the image of Xavier's floating head appearing to tell Cyclops what to do, and when he orders Thunderbird to get off the airplane! What an action-packed page! I'm sometimes amazed at how much Cockrum packed into every panel. There's so much going of that the story just whizzes by! Love that final panel with Thunderbird pounding the cockpit of the plane as Havoc tries to warn him off. Phenomenal pick-up, Dino, major congrats!
