Description

After several attempts at contacting Art via Instagram comments and DMs, I was finally able to get in touch with him a month before NYCC and inquire about a commission. He said his list was already quite full (check his Instagram for a picture of all the commissions he did for NYCC!) but that he'd add me nonetheless.

I gave Art two options - Psylocke in her Jim Lee outfit or Chun-Li in her original Street Fighter II outfit - and let him decide, so I had no idea what to expect when I went to pick up my commission. In the picture of all his NYCC commissions, a Psylocke commission was clearly visible (and no Chun-Li), so I thought there was a high chance that piece was mine. Imagine my surprise when he pulled this beauty out of his bag. I asked if he had drawn Chun-Li before, and he said yes, but only once or twice and that he had no further plans to draw her in the future, haha.

Such an amazing piece of art that combines my love for comic books (via Art, the penciler of my first-ever comic book, X-Men Annual #14) with my love for video games (via my my go-to Street Fighter character)! 80s baby indeed.

I'm sure you would have been thrilled with either one, but I'm glad you got one that wasn't "revealed" on Instagram. Surprises are much more fun. Especially when look as good as this. Congratulations!

Haha, definitely. Hoping to commission a companion Psylocke piece from Art in the future so they can be staring at each other mid-fight!
