DescriptionOur friendly neighborhood Fed Ex man delivered this earlier today. By artist Lawrence Sterne Stevens, it illustrates "The Lost Continent" by C.J. Cutcliffe Hyne from the December 1944 issue of Famous Fantastic Mysteries. Lawrence was brought in by the editors of FFM to be their main artist while Virgil Finlay was off for WWII. When Finlay returned, they split art duties.Social/Sharing |

Fed Ex suck. All they ever did for me was ruin two pieces of artwork by heavily damaging them and most recently sending me threatening letters about debt collectors after losing the payment I sent to them by registered mail. They have a truly awful reputation this side of the pond. I tell anybody I know not to use them. Other collectors I know have suffered similar horror stories with this imcompetent bunch. Nice artwork by the way!

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with them! They've been fine for me over here so far. Fingers crossed!

FFM sure could bring the illustrative talent and bring spectacle and imagination to the audience.

A spectacular example of the detailed pen & ink work that Lawrence was capable of. More importantly, a tribute to Doug's eagle eyes whose deep knowledge of the field enabled him to recognize Stevens' work when offered at auction as a drawing by an "American Artist (20th Century)"
