DescriptionPunisher #81 Cover Homage (B&W), art by Riccardo Latina.Awhile back I commissioned a couple "covers" ala cover homages to the original cover for Punisher #81 for a fun project. I wanted both a black and white homage and a color one from different artists, here's the B&W. The original cover was done by Vietnamese comic and video game artist Hoang Nguyen. His cover itself for issue 81 may have been an homage to the cover to Punisher limited series #2, which the original cover was done by Mike Zeck, but I can't say for sure. I've included both of those cover images for reference in the additional photos. This commissioned cover homage was done by Italian artist Riccardo Latino, repped by Kirby's Comic Art (thanks to Annabel!). Similar to Hoang, he not only works as a comic art illustrator but also is an illustrator in the video game industry. I love the job he did to "modernize" and add his own style/flair to the cover design while still retaining the overall vibe and image details of the original. Social/Sharing |

Great Punisher. He actually has a little Bernthal in him, imo. On that same note, Jon has been my favorite Punisher representation in TV or screen. Awesome homage

Damn, I saw the first line of Marcus' lyrics and being the Canadian that I am, immediately thought he was serenading you with the classic, early 80's Canadian Rock stylings of Mike Reno's Loverboy!
This is a really well done homage of Nguyen's original cover! Also can't help pointing out the great irony in this Italian artist simultaneously being a Latino. 😄
